Ryan Air Baggage Allowances & Fees 2020

Only priority boarding passengers are be permitted to take one small bag (40cm x 20cm x 25cm), plus a larger cabin bag (55 x 40 x 20cm) with a maximum weight allowance of 10kg into the cabin free of charge.

Non-priority customers can only bring one small bag (40cm x 20cm x 25cm), that must fit into the sizer. If non-priority customers want to bring a second bigger bag, they can purchase a lower cost 10kg check-in bag at the time of booking online. It must be checked-in at the airport bag drop desk, prior to reaching airport security.

If you are a non-priority customer and have not already added a 10kg bag to your booking, but would like to, you can purchase one at the airport bag drop desk for an extra fee.

Duty-free bags are permitted in the cabin along with your cabin baggage.

Please note: there is currently conflicting information regarding being able to take Trunki hand luggage on as cabin baggage. It is best to contact Ryanair directly regarding this.

Checked Baggage

Each passenger can purchase up to 3 checked bags of with a weight of no more than 20 kilos. These can be purchased either when making the initial booking online or can be added to an existing booking up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time

Checked bags are charged per person, per one way flight and prices vary depending on the route and travel dates. Higher baggage fees of €40 per person/per one way flight apply when checked bags are purchased after the initial booking. Higher baggage fees also apply when checked bags are purchased via a Ryanair call centre, at airport ticket desks, during peak periods as well as on selected routes.

If your checked bag weighs more than 10kg or 20kg (depending on which you have booked), you may purchase additional excess baggage up to a maximum of 32kg. This can only be purchased at the airport ticket desk on the day of travel. Excess baggage is charged at £11 per kg.

Sporting & Musical Equipment

Passengers are able to check-in sporting equipment and musical instruments such as hold luggage alongside other checked baggage, as long as it does not exceed 20kg or 30kg for bikes.

The fee for these items ranges from £35-£60 per item, one way, when booked online or £40-£75 one way, when booked at the airport on the day of travel. Prices vary depending on the item in question.
