Lufthansa Free Baggage

When travelling with Lufthansa your free baggage allowance is based upon the ticket type you have purchased and the route you will be taking.

Fares on Intercontinental Flights:

Economy Class 1 bag up to 23 kg
Premium Economy Class 2 bags each up to 23 kg
Business Class 2 bags each up to 32 kg
First Class 3 bags each up to 32 kg

 

 

Fares on European Flights:

Economy Class 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg
Premium Economy Class 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg
Business Class 2 pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg each
First Class 2 pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg each

Lufthansa Carry-On Baggage

Note: The number of pieces of carry-on baggage allowed is determined by the travel class that you have booked booked.

Economy Class 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg
Premium Economy Class 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg
Business Class 2 pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg each
First Class 2 pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg each

 

Dimensions for carry-on baggage: 55 x 40 x 23 cm

For foldable garment bags: 57 x 54 x 15 cm.

 

Excess Baggage & Charges

Lufthansa charges flat fees if you are travelling with Excess baggage. Charges can differ depending on the type of ticket you have bought, as well as the route of your flight. For this reason, it is recommended that you check with the Lufthansa Service Centre if you can book excess baggage onto your chosen flights. Some routes offered by the airline offer the option of adding another bag for a discounted price.

If your baggage is too large, you may be charged for an additional bag. Therefore, it is important that you check your baggage before flying.

Lufthansa Musical Instruments

Bulky items of baggage and other special baggage are charged on a special tariff. Further information about these can be obtained directly from the Lufthansa Service Centre.

Musical instruments which weigh more than 32 kg may only be taken on Lufthansa flights after registration and approval.

You can register your sports baggage up to 24 hours before departure, via the Lufthansa Service Centre.

The maximum weight for sports goods is 32 kg: If your sports baggage exceeds this then charges for cargo transport apply.
