British Airways Baggage Allowances & Fees 2020

Checked Baggage

The amount of checked baggage each customer is allowed depends on your booking; the route, fare and ticket type. Each piece of luggage must not be larger than 90cm x 75cm x 43cm total dimensions (including any pieces of the luggage that stick out such as handles & wheels). Each piece of luggage has a weight allowance of either 23kg or 32kg depending on the route/ticket you have purchased.

The following table outlines the British Airways baggage allowances per ticket type. This applies to all flights except to/from Brazil, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and connecting journeys between India and USA/Bermuda/Canada.

Ticket Type Baggage Allowance
World Traveler Euro Traveler Domestic Eco (Economy) 1 bag at 23kg
World Traveler Y Class (full-fare Economy) 2 bags at 23kg each
World Traveler Plus (Premium Economy) 2 bags at 23kg each
Club Europe (Business) 2 bags at 32kg each
First Club World Biz Bed (Business) 3 bags at 32kg each

Fees

Each passenger can check-in up to 10 pieces of luggage per flight, including the allocated checked luggage allowance that comes with the flights. For example, if you get one piece of free checked luggage on your flight, you can add up to nine extra pieces.

Prices range from £36 to £120 per piece of luggage when booked online in advance and £40 to £140 when booked at the airport on the day of travel. Overweight bags will face a fee of £65 per bag, unless over 32kg. Anything heavier will have to be shipped separately as cargo.

Sporting & Musical Equipment

Instruments and sporting equipment can be carried as part of your checked baggage allowance or extra purchased checked baggage.

In certain circumstances, British Airways may carry heavier items of up to 45kg and with dimensions of up to 190cm x 75cm x 65cm.

Pieces over 23kg, however, may incur an extra charge.
